In the beginning of 2009, I got the bad news from my boss who said my performance didn't meet her expectation, and extended my probation to the end of January. It totally affect my confidence on work and seriously reviewed myself at the new position. Up to now I still don't know whether I can pass the probation or not, but it's so close to know the result when I return to work on Saturday. It's my first comment from boss who isn't satisfied my working performance. Previous bosses were appreciated what I did in their companies. It makes me to rethink whether I'm over-confident on my working abilities or not. No doubt that I'm not a perfect employee to be done everything my boss said. No matter what the result will be, I did pay extra attention and effort on my work in this month to keep my position. I don't wanna be a loser to be laid off by that reason, even though it maybe their execuse to cut headcount when business is getting worse.

 

On the another hand, it's time to figure out some continancy plans if they really lay me off in 2009:

Plan A: Find another similar job in the accounting field. It's the common decision to the unemployees. Certainly I won't cut my salary to meet the job market to bid the offer. It's unreasonable even though it maybe the fastest way to get the offer under poor economy. My salary isn't really high already and I can't accept the new employer to give me lower salary. It means that you are not worth to get the reasonable salary and imply that my working performance is really poor.

Plan B: Run my own business. That's my long long dream and the reason why I studied in accounting. In 2009, it's really good time to start up the business when you have the great and brand new idea. I believe I found it and just bought some books to know more how to run "this" small business. I know I found the right direction and what I need to prepare are my knowledge and how to source and sell the products to potential customers. (Plan A and B can work in process in the same time)

Plan C: Work overseas. I have another dream that is to study or work overseas. When my family was able to let my brother to study overseas only, I told myself that someday I can use my own money to live and work in UK for 2 years. Certainly it's risky because I may not find the jobs in accounting field in UK when the Europe economy is also getting worse. To maintain the living cost I may find the waiter or catering job in UK that can't meet my want.

 

No matter what's going on next, it's the year to CHANGE to adopt the new era. If we don't equip ourselves rapidly, we may be the loser in next minute, or lose our jobs and opportunities to win over our competitors in market. To be future winner or loser, it depends on your decision right now.
